Week 2 Saturday Six-Pack: The Hangover

Week 1, college football binged on a loaded docket freely dubbed The Best Opening Weekend Ever. Week 2 brings the unavoidable hangover.

Despite taking an inevitable dip in top-to-bottom intrigue, the Week 2 slate is not completely lacking for quality football. A trio of dormant series revived headline Week 2: BYU and Utah in the Holy War; TCU and Arkansas in an old, Southwest Conference series; and Penn State and Pitt in a Keystone State series, with roots going back to the 1890s.

The Week 2 Saturday Six-Pack actually does not include the best game of the weekend — that distinction belongs to Eastern Washington-North Dakota State, featured in the upcoming FCS Showcase — but the six games on tap have plenty to offer.

SATURDAY’S SIX-PACK: Big Sky Brewing Company Moose Drool Brown Ale

Week 2 Six-Pack

The game of Week 2 that most intrigues me may not appear in the Six-Pack, so I am honoring Eastern Washington’s involvement in said contest with a beer by Big Sky Brewing Company. Worthy consolation, right?

Brown ales are great for this time of year, as summer transitions into fall. Oktoberfest does not commence in Munich for another week, and pumpkin ales are best saved for October. Since my favorite brown ale is no longer in standalone production — Sierra Nevada Tumbler — Moose Drool is a fine runner-up.
