WESTERN MICHIGAN AT EASTERN MICHIGAN

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT

TV: CBS Sports Network

Las Vegas Line: Eastern Michigan +20

Western Michigan rows the boat into The Factory. Yeah, Mid-American teams like their gimmicks, but WMU head coach P.J. Fleck’s high-energy, boat-rowing style has paid dividends for the Broncos.

Since starting 1-3, Western Michigan is a winner of three straight, including a blowout of a solid Ohio bunch. The high-tempo offense that mirrors Fleck’s frenetic coaching style has begun emerging in recent weeks. The Broncos have scored 41, 49 and 35 in this current win streak.

A repeat of last year’s nine-win regular season is a tall order, but the Broncos are still very much in the hunt for the MAC West title and berth in the conference championship game. Perpetual cellar-dweller Eastern Michigan is unlikely to put up much resistance to Western Michigan’s divisional pursuits.

EMU head coach Chris Creighton worked to establish a hard-nosed identity, similar to the “Row The Boat” mantra Fleck’s reinforced at WMU. Unfortunately, the Eagles have not seen results.

Since letting a two-score lead slip away Week 1 against Old Dominion and routing Wyoming Week 2, Eastern Michigan’s margin of defeat has last by at least three scores in five straight games. A defense giving up almost 45 points per game stands little chance of slowing

Eastern Michigan’s best hope is creating a few turnovers early, with running back Darius Jackson leading some long drives that result in touchdowns. I just wouldn’t anticipate it.

PREDICTION: Western Michigan 49, Eastern Michigan 21
