Week 2 Saturday Six-Pack: A Potential Playoff Play-In

The first week of the college football season was somewhat bereft of great games. Even most of the marquee matchups were lackluster. To wit, four of the first Saturday Six-Pack were decided by double digits.

We can let that slide on Week 1; it’s just refreshing to have college football back. However, Week 2 brings a welcomed uptick in competition, as the games collective get more interesting.

Don’t listen to the pessimists and naysayers downplaying Week 2. While not as tasty as some of the October weekends looming, there are plenty of options to fill out an impressive Week 2 Saturday Six-Pack.

Some of the negative sentiment among college football writers likely comes from the underwhelming early slate of games. Oregon State at Michigan might, might be worthwhile. Otherwise, Those first three hours provide a suitable window to hit the gym, make a grocery store, take the dog to the groomers, what have you.

Considering NFL starts on Sunday, a vast majority of you reading are probably looking at three months of spending whole weekends only leaving the couch to venture to the kitchen or restroom. Rather than lament the less desirable TV blocks during the season, take full advantage.

My season-long Six-Pack record will be updated weekly, good or bad. Bear in that mind that because of the full docket last Thursday, Week 1 featured two Six-Packs. I went right down the middle on head-to-head picks at 6-6, but finished on the positive side of picks against the point spread.

2015 SIX-PACK RECORD: 6-6; 7-5 ATS

The mercury hit 100 in Southern California this week, so I simply couldn’t imagine suggesting anything but a refreshing pilsner or lager. Considering Week 2 is largely still nonconference play, a more summery offering still feels acceptable.

If you are indeed still beating the heat by staying indoors and tuning into Week 2’s college football slate, or if you’re looking for a high-quality, crisp canned beer to keep cool at your Week 2 tailgate, Pick Six Pilsner is an easy choice. The name might even bring your team’s defense some good mojo.
