Measures for success vary between programs. While nothing less than a conference championship and potential berth in the College Football Playoff will suffice for the game’s upper echelon, reaching a bowl game is a major milestone for a much larger section of the college football landscape.
Each Power Five conference has at least one program that either needs a bowl game in 2015 to give its coaches more time, or seeks to snap a long bowl game drought.
Not all of these teams will score that sought-after bid, however. For those seeking to make holiday plans — namely fans of Virginia, Texas Tech, Indiana, Colorado or Kentucky — know whether you should buy into that Travelocity package or save the money for Junior’s G.I. Joe with the Kung-Fu Grip.
