Attendees for ACC Media Days Revealed, and We’ve Got A Punter

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditmail

The ACC announced all 28 players attending ACC media days July 19-21, and Steve Spurrier has been one-upped. Wake Forest is sending punter Alex Kinal as one of its two representatives, along with linebacker Brandon Chubb.

The Australian product Kinal was the nation’s ninth-most active punter in 2014, booting away 81 times. Among ACC punters, only Virginia Tech’s A.J. Hughes saw more action. Fitting.

Perhaps this gives some indication as to where Dave Clawson and his staff are at in retooling the Demon Deacons offense for Year 2. Wake had the nation’s No. 127-ranked scoring offense a season ago, averaging just 14.8 points per game. Only SMU was more anemic at 11.1 points per.

For the crowd who likes easy, if not hackneyed jokes — and really, isn’t that what the entire College Football Blogosphere is founded on? — Wake Forest taking its punter to ACC media days is the equivalent of airline food. Even for the less hacky comedic types, Kinal’s selection is fodder. I sincerely hope CBS springs for Stephen Colbert to attend ACC media days. I sincerely believe a sit-down between Colbert, Clawson, Kinal and Chubb has great potential for both sides.

It could be better than Colbert’s impromptu public access interview with Eminem.

All kidding aside, Kinal is not the only specialist scheduled to appear at the event, however. Florida State’s All-American placekicker Roberto Aguayo joins Jalen Ramsey in representative and defending three-time ACC champion Seminoles. Aguayo is the 2013 Lou Groza Award recipient as college football’s best placekicker.
